How did we get started?
We have had a (mostly) successful homestead since 2014ish. We started on 2 acres with a garden a few random unregistered goats. In 2020, we purchased our new homestead that is a little over 11 acres. Since then, we have been investing in infrastructure and improving the genetics of the goats we have on the farm. In 2022 and 2023, we sold excess at the Columbus Indiana Farmers market, but have since taken a step back from this as we added our 3rd child, and time is our biggest constraint these days. We also both work in corporate settings, so just to reiterate, time is a massive constraint!
Our main goal since day 1 is to provide the most nutritious food to our family without the environmental impact and animal welfare issues created by "factory farms". Raising our 3 kids around this lifestyle has had benefits we didn't even know existed back then, and I feel strongly that society would change for the better if more people had visibility to where their food is coming from, and all the sacrifices that go to putting dinner on the table. I am always happy to educate or answer any questions I can when people ask :]
